  • What is a hostel?

    A hostel is a quality budget accommodation that offers a comfortable night's sleep in friendly surroundings at an affordable price. Hostels provide the perfect way to explore a location cost-effectively and meet fellow travelers who share your love of adventure.

  • What are shared accommodations?

    Our shared accommodations feature bunk-bed style rooms with 6 beds per room. We offer separate dormitories for females and males only; there are no co-ed rooms available.

  • How can I reserve a bed?

    Making a reservation is simple. You can reserve online through our Book Now page or by phone. A valid Visa, MasterCard, or American Express is required to make a reservation. Reservations are always recommended to secure your spot.

  • Am I charged at the time of reservation?

    No, a credit card guarantees your reservation, but payment is taken at check-in.

  • How many nights may I stay at the hostel?

    To accommodate more travelers, the maximum length of stay is 7 nights within any six-month period.

  • What do I need to check-in?

    Each guest must present a government-issued photo ID, such as a passport, driver's license, or national identity card. Incoming and outgoing plane tickets (including electronic tickets) must also be shown upon arrival. Hostelling International membership cards are required for member discounts. We do not accept ISIC cards, college, school, or university IDs.

  • What if I'm not a member?

    No problem! You can purchase a membership online, buy a membership card at the hostel, or opt to pay a temporary membership fee of an additional $3.00 per night.

  • What time do I check-in and check-out?

    Guests may check-in anytime during office hours. If you arrive before your bed is available, you can store your bags at the hostel. We can also make arrangements for arrivals after midnight. Check-out time is by 11 AM.

  • I have a late flight and need to store my bags after checking out at 11 AM. What should I do?

    Hostel Honolulu offers a small day fee that includes access to the hostel facilities and bathrooms for the day, allowing you to store your bags securely.

  • Is there somewhere safe I can leave my possessions?

    We provide small lockers for your use. Please bring your own padlock to secure your belongings.

  • Do I need a sleeping bag?

    No, all bed linen costs are included in the overnight fee. We do not allow the use of sleeping bags in our dormitories.

  • Do I need to bring my own towel?

    No, towels, pillowcases, and sleepsheets are provided during your stay.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    Cancellations require a 48-hour notice. If you do not arrive or fail to call in advance to cancel, you will be charged for the first night.

  • Is breakfast included?

    No, breakfast is not included. However, we have a fully equipped, self-catering kitchen, and there are supermarkets and grocery stores nearby.

  • Do you have parking?

    Yes, Hostel Honolulu offers 3 free parking stalls on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Do you have laundry facilities?

    Yes, we have on-site coin-operated laundry facilities. Soap is available for purchase at the hostel.

    Unfortunately, we do not allow pets at Hostel Honolulu to maintain a clean and allergen-free environment for all guests.

  • Is there a curfew?

    No, there is no curfew. Guests are free to come and go as they please. However, please respect quiet hours from 10 PM to 8 AM to ensure a restful environment for everyone.

  • Can I bring my bike?

    Yes, you can bring your bike. We have a designated area for bike storage. Please inform reception upon arrival to arrange secure storage.

  • Are there security measures in place?

    Yes, we prioritize the safety of our guests. The hostel is equipped with secure lockers, and the premises are monitored to ensure a safe environment.

  • Do you organize tours or activities?

    While we do not organize tours, our friendly staff can help you arrange activities and provide recommendations for exploring Honolulu and the surrounding areas.

  • Is there a kitchen available for guests?

    Yes, we have a fully equipped communal kitchen with a microwave, stove, refrigerators, pots, pans, and utensils available for all guests to use.

  • Can I host a private event at the hostel?

    Hostel Honolulu primarily caters to travelers staying overnight. For private events, please contact us directly to discuss availability and options.

  • Do you offer luggage storage?

    Yes, you can store your luggage at the hostel before check-in or after check-out. Please contact reception for more details.
